On October 3, a fully occupied bus fell from a bridge about ten meters high.

The Public Prosecution Service is focusing on three suspects who are said to be partly responsible for the bus crash that left 21 dead. The director of the bus company and two city government officials responsible for bridge and road maintenance are under investigation. The local newspaper ‘Il Gazzettino’ reported this on Thursday.

Three Germans also died in the accident on the way from the lagoon city to a campsite on the mainland. Thirteen injured people are still in hospital. The fully occupied bus fell from a bridge about ten meters high on a railway line on October 3. There was a large hole in the guardrail at that time.

The investigations are aimed, among other things, at the director of bus company La Linea, from whom the campsite operators chartered the vehicle. In the first few days there was speculation that the driver may have suffered a weak seizure. The 40-year-old Italian also died. All other fatalities were foreign tourists. (SDA)
