After just over a year, coach Thomas Tuchel (50) and Bayern Munich will part ways in the summer. Despite the contract until June 2025. The club announced this in mid-February. This is also because the German record champions are not really getting up to speed this season. With seven rounds to go, they are some 13 points behind league leaders Leverkusen. Tuchel has already congratulated the Werkself on their title.
Although there have been calls lately that Tuchel should leave immediately, the club bosses are sticking to their plan. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen (56) justified the decision in February by saying that a “sporty realignment with a new coach” must take place next season.
Agreement with important consequences
Bayern has not yet presented a successor. An agreement was reached between Bayern and Tuchel on the divorce. And that costs the club a lot. As “Sport Bild” has learned, Tuchel will receive his outstanding salary. Although he will not receive any bonuses, he will still collect an estimated ten million euros (about 9.8 million francs). A beautiful piece.
However, another effect of this agreement is more important for Tuchel. This allows him to sign for another club without having to negotiate with Bayern.
It is still unclear when his successor will be presented. According to ‘Bild’, the bosses around sports director Max Eberl and sports director Christoph Freund want to hold the first conversations with candidates for the position at the end of April. (beer)
