“Extremely Biased”: Music Producer Protects Rammstein Singer Lindemann Near the Lost “Titanic”: Search for a Submarine with Adventurers

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - FEBRUARY 10, 2012: German heavy metal band Rammstein perform live at Olimpiysky Stadium

The accusations against Rammstein singer Till Lindemann do not stop. Now the case was also a subject for “Hard but fair” on ARD. Under the motto “The Rammstein case and the question: men, are you really no further?” moderator Louis Klamroth spoke on Monday with ex-music manager and ex-‘DSDS’ jury member Thomas Stein, among others. He caused outrage with his statements about Lindemann.

“Have you ever been to a Rammstein concert?” asks Thomas Stein on the talk round, then explains quite naturally: “If he (Editor’s Note: Till Lindemann) runs across the stage at 60 years old, should he suddenly go down and make someone happy? He has to go to the museum, that’s a strength you can’t muster.”

Thomas Stein talks about prejudice in Till Lindemann

Ex-music manager Thomas M. Stein was a guest on "Hart aber fair".

Although he was surprised “nothing more at all,” says Stein, the allegations against Lindemann surprised him. He was an “accessible contemporary”, the ex-DSDS judge proclaimed. He refers to the presumption of innocence, but also says: a crime must be punished in this case, but “just putting something out there is a huge risk,” he explains. “Someone is really extremely biased here,” says Stein.

He also finds the appearance of a “Row Zero”, as usual at Rammstein concerts, not unusual. “It’s always been there — with Heino, with Roberto Blanco, and with Rammstein,” says Stein.

Mass criticism of Thomas Stein’s “tough but fair” performance

Thomas Stein’s statements about Till Lindemann caused horror on Twitter. For example, one Twitter user complained that the Me-Too debate “completely passed him by”.

Most of all, Stein’s choice of words “to make happy” amazed the audience.

Excitement over CDU local politician Lisa Schäfer

In the end, it was not just Stein’s statements that caused criticism. CDU politician Lisa Schäfer also caused the audience to shake their heads. She emphasized: “I’ve never been groped.” However, she finds it uncomfortable “when I walk down hotspot streets in bigger cities and young men, whose language I often don’t understand, play pranks on me. There is a sense of insecurity,” she explained. This led to misunderstanding in the discussion round. Louis Klamroth asked if she spoke English.

Opinions differed sharply on Twitter, with some accusing Schäfer of racism, others protecting them and criticizing the comments in the round of talks as arrogant. According to one user, this is also “victim blaming at its best”.
