The digital frang aims to simplify payments in the digital space.

Postfinance and Swiss Stablecoin (SSC) are launching a testbed for the SSC-issued digital franc. The Cardossier car platform serves as the first pilot project.

The target is a widely supported and regulated digital Swiss franc, according to a statement from the SSC on Tuesday. This should complement the existing payment infrastructure with more functionality and streamline transactions in the digital space.

Practical suitability is checked

Partnership with Postfinance now enables concrete implementation steps. To do this, SSC activates the Swiss franc digital display in a Postfinance test environment as part of a “proof of concept” and checks for “tangible use cases for practical relevance”. It is unknown how long the testing phase will take.

The main focus is said to be the payment of small amounts. The industry’s interest in the digital Swiss franc is growing. (SDA/kae)
