Happy with the win of the day: Ethan Vernon.

Movie scene from Crissie to Vallée de Joux. The chasing group takes a wrong turn about 16 kilometers from the finish. About 25 drivers then have to stop, they look at each other helplessly. Since this trail is a shortcut, the group must wait and let the pack pass. Apparently there had been a misunderstanding with an escort vehicle before. After a short break, the group that took the wrong turn can continue.

Moments later, the sprint on the top starts. In the end, Ethan Vernon (Team Soudal) takes the victory of the day. The Brit wins ahead of Trek Segafredo rider Thibau Nis and Milan Menten (Lotto). For Vernon it is the seventh victory in his career. Thanks to the ten bonus seconds, he overtakes teammate Josef Cerny, the winner of Tuesday’s opening time trial, at the top of the general classification.

With Jan Sommer (27th place) and Jan Christen (28th place), two Swiss made it to the top 30.

On Thursday, the sprinters should have another chance on the 162.7km stretch from Morteau to La Chaux-de-Fonds, before the time trial in Châtel-Saint-Denis the following day and the King’s stage with a mountain finish at the Valais ski station on Saturday follows Thyon 2000. (Mom/SDA)
