Without a win since late November: The FCL is slowly starting to tremble across the line

Lucerne’s weakness away from home is slowly but surely becoming a problem. The Central Swiss team has only collected six points in ten matches on foreign soil. Only Winterthur and Lausanne-Sport are a paltry point behind in the away match – with one game less.

Due to the poor balance, Lucerne’s lead shrinks to zero. At the end of November there were still five points after the win over Winterthur. Four matches later – three of which were on home field in the Swissporarena – it is another one. The defeat in Yverdon and the one against Basel were particularly serious because they were so-called six-point games.

No goals, no victory

Does Lucerne coach Mario Frick (49) feel the breath of his pursuers on his neck? “I worry less about the teams behind us and more about us and what we can do better.” There isn’t much play in it. As so often, Lucerne’s chance creation was also good in the 1-2 defeat in Yverdon. But the degrees are usually not precise.

The missed header goal by Kemal Ademi (28) is indicative of this. However, it would be wrong to measure the performance of the birthday child solely on this basis. Because his qualities as the only leader in the 4-2-3-1 came to the fore. The best example is the penalty scene in which he cleverly takes the opponent’s central defender out of the game, before the foul on Severin Ottiger (20). Now the 1.97 meter tall giant urgently needs to regain his lost goal-scoring instincts.

The next chance for an Ademi goal and for Lucerne to win is against Lausanne on Sunday. Want some encouragement? So far, there have been four winless games in a row under Frick. The redeeming victory followed in the fifth game.
