Bitter news for the Slovenian Anze Lanisek (27). The top ski jumper was seriously injured shortly before the World Ski Flying Championships and missed the big event.
The 27-year-old suffered an injury to his right knee when he landed during training in Planica and is unlikely to feature in any competition for the next two months.
Lanisek, who damaged his cruciate ligament and has to wear a knee brace, is one of the best ski jumpers this winter. Together with Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger, World Cup leader Stefan Kraft and Ryoyu Kobayashi, he was one of the favorites for the competitions in Bad Mitterndorf this weekend. (SDA/dti)
