Kees van Wonderen had long appeared on course for victory at his old club Go Ahead Eagles with sc Heerenveen thanks to a clever slide by Thom Haye. In injury time, however, substitute Finn Stokkers equalized from close range: 1:1.

Just before half-time, the fans in Deventer were awakened by a shot from the post by Heerenveen midfielder Tibor Halilovic. Until then little had happened. Bobby Adekanye called for a penalty but the Go Ahead attacker was booked for a dive.

Haye right in the corner

Soon after the break, Haye opened the game with an effective low shot, straight into the corner. It was the midfielder’s first Eredivisie goal since the end of March 2018 for Willem II against FC Utrecht.

The goal against Go Ahead didn’t give up and the Eagles went in search of the equaliser. Enric Llansana was close but his attempt was stopped by Andries Noppert.

The game went up and down for a while, but the closing chord was for Go Ahead. Stokkers, who was just 1-1 just before, hit the target from the rebound.
