2024 with China and Saturday races: Formula 1 plans a record season with 24 races

Formula 1 will stop in Shanghai in 2024.

The 2024 Formula 1 season starts on March 2 in Bahrain and traditionally ends on December 8 in Abu Dhabi. Originally, Formula 1 would comprise 24 races this year, but the premier class of motorsport was forced to make a new appointment. The race weekend in Shanghai was canceled prematurely due to the ongoing corona restrictions in China and in Imola (Italy) it was not possible to drive due to flooding. Without further cancellations, 22 races will be held this season.

What is special about the 2024 calendar is that the first two races of the season in Bahrain and a week later in Saudi Arabia will already take place on Saturday evening and not on Sunday as usual. The reason for this is Ramadan, the month of fasting in Islam.

Also in Las Vegas, victory is already at stake on a Saturday at the end of November. Together with Miami and Austin, the Grand Prix in the gambling metropolis is another one of three stops in the US. For the first time since the start of the corona pandemic, Formula 1 is also scheduled to stop again in China on April 21. (SDA/Mom)
