According to their own statements, Switzerland managed the holiday season rush well. The airline carried a total of 547,000 passengers from December 22 to January 2. (Archive image)

In the statement, it was stated that Switzerland reliably transports its guests to their destination despite the adverse weather conditions at the airports and the absence of personnel due to illness. In terms of flight plan stability, a value of 98.5 percent was reached, after 99.4 percent the previous year.

Flight schedule stability refers to the proportion of flights that Switzerland is able to operate as offered, sometimes with delays. “I am very pleased that we were able to stick to the flight schedule almost always during the busy Christmas period,” said operations manager Oliver Buchhofer, according to the statement.

It was stated that there were delays in the last two weeks and a total of 58 flights were canceled. The airline was particularly negatively affected by adverse weather conditions such as storms, frost and snow. In addition, cold and flu epidemics make operations difficult.

According to information obtained, approximately 17 percent of Swiss flights arrived at their destination more than 30 minutes late during the festive period. Meanwhile, nearly 58 percent, or more than half of the flights, started on time, meaning they started no more than a quarter of an hour later than planned.
