Surprising ending after 7 seasons: one of the currently most popular hospital series is coming to an end

In 2017, Freddie Highmore (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) flickered for the first time when Dr. Shaun Murphy on the American channel ABC on home televisions. In this country, ‘The Good Doctor’ was initially available as a streaming subscription on Sky or WOW, before the successful series also moved to Netflix and Disney+ – where it was able to gather a whole new fan community. While the seventh season is currently in production and will premiere on ABC in February, it now also marks the end of the series.

How reports: “The Good Doctor” has had stable ratings over the years on ABC since 2017 and is a consistent market winner in the 14-to-49-year-old demographic in the Monday night time slot. The decision to move away from the successful series “Dr. House’ creator David Shore and Liz Friedman are therefore surprising – even though ABC has already announced the end of several series in recent months.

This also applies to the “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off “Seattle Firefighters,” which is also coming to an end after seven seasons. However, there is also the planned “The Good Doctor” spin-off “The Good Lawyer,” which was canceled before its initial broadcast due to the writers and actors’ strikes in Hollywood last year.

Lead actor Freddie Highmore, who witnessed the fortunes of the exceptional physician Dr. Dr., who suffers from autism. Shaun Murphy expressed his emotions at the end of the series in an emotional statement: “Dr. Playing Shaun Murphy was an enormous privilege and one of the most special and rewarding experiences of my life. […] Our efforts have brought us here. Thank you to Sony and ABC and everyone who watched at home. From the heart of Vancouver… tequila, now!”

In any case, fans can look forward to the seventh season of ‘The Good Doctor’, which starts on February 20, 2024 on ABC. It is not yet known when the finale of the major series will be shown here.
