Alexis Pinturault’s fall overshadows the Super-G on the Lauberhorn.

Alexis Pinturault (32) has had a lot to be happy about in recent days. Last Saturday he became a dad for the first time and on Thursday he achieved his best result in the downhill. Only this winter did he decide to turn his back on slalom and concentrate on the speed disciplines. On the Lauberhorn he was rewarded with a 9th place. The Frenchman, who started the race with starting number 7, is also fast in the Super-G. But then it happens.

Pinturault falls behind the Silberhorn jump, is compressed when he lands and can no longer prevent a terrible fall. Not only does he end up face-first on the hard slope, but he also rolls over badly because his skis get stuck in the snow.

“We risk our health”

The race is interrupted for a long time and Pinturault has to be rescued first. Unfortunately, that didn’t look good at all. According to SRF it must be conscious.

Pinturault’s teammate Cyprien Sarrazin (29) was already at the finish line at this point. After his compatriot’s fall, the Frenchman told SRF that he was visibly shocked. “It’s always annoying when you have to see something like that. But it is also clear: we are risking our health here, it is part of our sport.” (beer)
