Jenna Ortega will not be part of the cast of ‘Scream VII’

Actress Jenna Ortega will not return to the horror franchise ‘Scream’ due to the filming schedule of the second season of the Netflix series ‘Wednesday’.

According to information from the specialized media Deadline, the departure of the actress who participated in the film “Scream VI” was discussed even before the outbreak of the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike (July 14 – November 9) and has nothing to do with the recent expulsion from the cast of Mexican actress Melissa Barrera.

Ortega has to finish shooting the movie ‘Beetlejuice 2’from Tim Burtonwhich has two days of filming left and was stopped by the actors’ break and will have to stay in Ireland from spring to summer 2024 to shoot the second season ‘Wednesday’.

Barrera was fired from the cast of ‘Scream VII’ on Tuesday after posting on her social media that Israel’s offensive in Gaza in recent weeks represents ” genocide and one ethnic cleansing“.

Production company Spyglass – responsible for the popular franchise – has labeled its publications anti-Semitic and claimed they are “Zero tolerance” with antisemitism or incitement to hatred “in any form”.

Ortega and Barrera played Tara and Samantha Carpenter and were the two main characters of the sixth film released in 2022, which earned almost $170 million at the international box office.

Film director, Christopher Landonhe emphasized on Xu (formerly Twitter), that Barrera’s dismissal was not his decision.

The latest ‘Scream’ sequel reunited stars from the original 1996 film such as Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, and also featured Mason Gooding Jr. and Jasmine Savoy Brown.
