The elected representative of Javier Milei’s party expressed Argentina’s interest in hosting this meeting on the conflict, the first to be held in Latin America.
“We are offering to be the headquarters if it is appropriate,” Mondino assured the media near the Hotel Libertador, Mile’s bunker for weeks.
The Ukrainian president thanked Milei for his “clear support” to his country in the context of the Russian military invasion in a message posted on the Presidency social network, which will take place on December 10.
“There is no ambiguity between good and evil. Only clear support for Ukraine. We Ukrainians are aware of this and appreciate it very much,” Zelensky said in his announcement.
The relationship between Latin American countries and the Ukrainian government has been complex since the beginning of the war.
Ukraine has invited leaders such as the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvato visit the country, but so far he has not been able to do so.
In the case of the outgoing executive, led by Peronist Alberto Fernández, Zelenskiy’s efforts included seeking a clearer line condemning Russian aggression by Argentina.
Miley, what labeled Russian President Vladimir Putin an “autocrat”he was highly critical of Fernández’s policies regarding the war in Ukraine and during the campaign opened the door to greater cooperation between the two countries.
The transition to the new “Milej era” this Wednesday had a distinctly diplomatic undertone.
In addition to Zelenski, the newly elected president also spoke with US President, Joe Biden; Chilean, Gabriel Boric; and Peruvian, Dina Boluarte.
