The 81st Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast on the CBS television network on January 7, 2024, the organization that organizes the awards announced this Friday.
The three-hour gala broadcast will also be broadcast on the platform streaming Paramount+ and will be available on the CBS network app as part of a new agreement between the network and Golden Globes.
After his contract with NBC expired earlier this year, Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries, The owners of the rights to the Golden Globes have been negotiating with several media houses for several months to find a new home for the renowned awards.
“We are very proud to carry Golden Globe to CBS to celebrate 81 years of awards history,” Dick Clark Productions owner Jay Penske said in a statement.
Famous film and television awards were given aired on CBS in 1981 and 1982, and currently the television network is responsible for broadcasting the Grammys.
“At a time when the audience watches content according to their own schedule, we are happy to bring it Golden Globes to viewers around the world through CBS’ robust platforms,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes.
Nominations for the 2024 gala will be presented on December 11 December and this year, for the first time, it will have the categories of cinematic and cinematographic success, as well as the best performance in a stand-up comedy special on television.
The last ceremony in Golden Globe 2023 marked the return of these awards to television after a non-televised event in 2022, amid controversy over the lack of African-American representation among members of the defunct Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which owned the awards before selling it earlier in the year.
