They are asking the MFA to invite the EU ambassador because of gray lists

He National Bar Association (CNA) and Action Group for International financial equality (Gapifi) They suggest that Panama’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summons the European Union (EU) ambassador to that country to explain in detail why Panama has not cooperated in keeping us on its list.

The aforementioned body decided to keep Panama on its list of non-cooperative jurisdictions in tax matters despite all the efforts made by the country in this matter.

CNP and Gapifi believe that the way to get off this infamous list is through diplomatic means, not the technocratic way that is exclusively used Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

“It is obvious that all the efforts of the said Ministry and its staff were in vain and only served to reduce the competitiveness of the international platform of financial services”, they expressed.

They therefore request that the chancellor be informed, Janaina Tewaney, which countries voted against Panama, to know who our real friends are and to deliver a formal protest note; informing you that while we are on that list, we will not maintain communications, negotiations or diplomatic contacts with that Organization.

They explained that keeping the country on the list of non-cooperative countries, even after so much effort, leaves us with the conclusion that we are faced with an entity that demands that Panama change its regime of fiscal territoriality.

They used this opportunity to repeat to the Government that in the short period it has left and in the middle of the election process, it does not pass, as it intends, any regulation in the sense it intends in relation to accounting records. legal entities continue to deteriorate the international services of our center; to comply with demands that are against the interests of the Republic of Panama, which we have warned would cause additional damage to our already fragile economy.

In the meantime, they demand a little more dignity and national pride from the rulers and forbid EU companies, especially those who voted against Panama, to participate in tenders conducted by the state as it was.. it establishes a law of retaliation.
