The pop star decided to clarify her position regarding the news spread about her on the web. Carolyn Kuek (the real name and surname of the singer) said that many sites repeat false accusations and slander against her in an attempt to influence public opinion.

“I feel the need for this challenge so that you, my dear fans, know the truth,” Ani Lorak explained. — As you know, I am a Ukrainian singer and I am proud of my heritage and culture. I have shared my creativity in Ukraine for many years, including representing my country at Eurovision and taking second place. However, since the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, I have been the center of a lot of gossip without any facts. In 2014, some politicians in Ukraine wanted to use me for their purposes, which I could not agree to. As a result, I found myself in a very uncomfortable situation and faced negative consequences in my life that only my inner circle knows about.

According to the 44-year-old artist, she was then given only two options: “Either you will play our game, do what we tell you, or you will not sing in this country.” This was said by a native of the town of Kitsman in the Chernivtsi region
An ultimatum from her own country’s government was the tipping point that made her move.

“I was accepted in Russia and I continued to grow as an artist and received recognition all over the world,” said Ani Lorak. — Regardless, Ukraine is always in my heart. I understand that I have been criticized for being silent over the past year, and I am aware that this decision can be interpreted in different ways. I never meant to offend or hurt anyone, and if it did, I apologize. I want to make it clear that I do not support any form of violence and that the loss of life as a result of the conflict breaks my heart.”

The singer recalled the fate of her older brother. Sergei died in Afghanistan in 1987. Caroline was nine years old then. After the divorce, the mother raised her daughter and brother Igor alone. There was not enough money, the woman had to send her children to a boarding school. At the age of 11, Carolina returned home – they got an apartment like the family of the deceased hero.

“I also want to say that I have NEVER provided military aid, which some media and politicians claim without evidence. Because I can help only within the humanitarian mission, which I have been doing all my life, “said Ani Lorak.

On Jan. 1, the “Hold My Heart” singer complained about the “twisted feelings” she had after speaking with her brother, who remained in his native country. The pop star assured that he hid in the basement before the shelling on New Year’s Eve.

On the eve, it turned out that Ani Lorak’s concert in Krasnodar will be canceled. Activists made such a demand, Mayor Yevgeny Naumov supported them. In Voronezh, they also demanded to cancel the show of the Ukrainian singer. Carolina recently revealed a new boyfriend.
