Comedian Felix Lobrecht announces leave: ‘I’m completely screwed’

Not fun anymore: German comedian Felix Lobrecht announces a one-year break. He announces this in the current episode of “Mixed Hack”.

“In two weeks I’m going on tour again (…) Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, we’re on tour for five or six weeks, and then I’m going to announce this very officially and completely unworthy: I’ll stop comedy – for a year I’m taking a break from the public!

The 34-year-old says that his health is not going well. Lately, Lobrecht has made no secret of the fact that he regularly follows psychotherapy for depressive phases. In an interview with the “Spiegel” in February this year, he said:

“I can now handle the crowds well. The off phases are much more difficult because I am alone with my thoughts – without distractions. (…) I am now working very hard on my mental health, which I have neglected for years.”

He revealed on his podcast “Gemischtes Hack” last year that he was “completely screwed”. Now his illness has affected him so much that he wants to withdraw from the public for a year. He had “worked himself to death” and had a constant fever.

As a rule, there is a lot to laugh about in the episodes of “Gemischtes Hack”. But serious issues such as meat consumption – or psychological disorders – are also discussed. With about 1.1 million weekly listeners, the podcast “Gemischtes Hack” is one of the most successful German-language podcasts. (cst)
