Dutch companies have to invest hundreds of millions in charging stations

With the advent of electric cars, more and more charging stations need to be installed. But not only cars need charging stations. You also need to charge electric vans and trucks.

From 2035, no new petrol cars may be sold, this also applies to delivery vans. Therefore, manufacturers and buyers often opt for an electric car.

Invest hundreds of billions in charging stations

All these electric vehicles need to be charged. Dutch companies in the logistics sector in particular need to invest heavily. According to a report by the National Agenda for Charging Infrastructure (NAL), this will affect investments in transport companies and distribution centers of around 625 million euros by 2030.

In the NAL, governments, market parties and grid operators work together to ensure that sufficient charging infrastructure is in place in good time to enable the massive switch to electric mobility.

A significant investment for companies

Charging stations are a big investment, especially for small Dutch companies with a smaller fleet (approx. 80,000 companies). As a result, the step to electric driving can be made less quickly, according to the organization.

From 2025, various communes will be in operation Zero Emission Zones In. Then you are no longer allowed to use a petrol car in certain places. The supply of companies in these places must therefore be fully electric.

In addition to the investment costs, there are also the costs for management and maintenance of the charging infrastructure and for fast chargers. NAL estimates that these will total €1.1 billion over a 10-year period.

Electric vans like the Volkswagen ID. buzz

In addition to charging stations, electric vans are still very expensive. Autovisie drove extensively with one of the newcomers: the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. You can see in the video below whether the bus meets its expectations and whether the driving characteristics match its frivolous exterior.
