The German police are cracking down on the “last generation” in Germany. On Wednesday morning, agents searched 15 apartments in Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Hessen, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein. According to “Spiegel”, two bills have been seized. According to the public prosecutor, the procedure was initiated “in response to numerous criminal complaints from the population that have been received since mid-2022”.
The activists are accused of collecting 1.4 million euros from a donation account and spending it mainly on crime. The raids are carried out by the Bavarian Public Prosecutor’s Office. Specifically: from the Central Bureau for Extremism and Counterterrorism (ZET).
According to the public prosecutor, these are seven activists between the ages of 22 and 38 who formed and supported a criminal organization within the meaning of Article 129 of the Criminal Code. Two suspects are also suspected of sabotaging the Trieste-Ingolstadt oil pipeline in April 2022.
As early as December 2022, police searched the homes of climate activists across Germany. (AFP/jwg)
