Paying with Apple Pay is easy: just double-press the side button and point the iPhone at the card reader. Postfinance customers will also benefit from this; You can now use Apple Pay to pay with a Postfinance account.

Not only prepaid and credit cards work with Apple Pay, but also Postfinance’s Debit Mastercard. This makes other bank customers jealous. For a long time, Apple Pay only worked with credit cards.

“Miracles still happen,” says Twitter user @derBurch.

The Zürcher Kantonalbank debit card can now be added to Apple Pay as a payment method. The same applies to the Credit Suisse debit card.

UBS and Raiffeisen only by credit card

Swiss bank UBS says on its website: “UBS debit cards do not currently work with Apple Pay.” The same goes for Google Pay. In Raiffeisen, too, Apple Pay only works with credit and prepaid cards.

Postfinance emphasizes that when using a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is generated and encrypted.
