Trump's signature as a tattoo - who doesn't dream of it?

“Make America Great Again”, Donald Trump’s all-encompassing slogan and the guiding principle of his “MAGA” movement. Occasionally, the former president of the United States adds a “for us” to the saying. By this he clearly means his followers.

This saying is ubiquitous in all his appearances – including on social media.

Trump has since been banned from Twitter and has since been gathering his followers on his own platform, Truth Social. With its own truth of things.

Instagram has been quiet about the 45th US president for the past two years. But for election campaign purposes, Trump has begun to mobilize his supporters again. Or at least try – with sometimes confused videos.

Donald Trump profiles himself on social media as a hero

He pretends to be a superhero to promote his merchandise, such as his Trump card game. Prides himself on being a “nice guy” for not increasing the retail price on the second release.

And then there are all kinds of videos with a blockbuster character. Film footage showing Trump with numerous bodyguards, dozens of supporters, with large MAGA flags along the side of the road, accompanied by film music and Trump addressing his fans from the start.

Always with the ulterior motive: “Make America Great Again” (for us). And of course: vote for me.

There are also some outliers from the blockbuster sequence, such as a video of Trump simply shouting, “Where’s Hunter?” To be clear, Hunter is the son of incumbent US President Joe Biden. Donald Trump has been making various accusations against the president’s son for years.

But many direct attacks on his alleged Republican rival Ron DeSantis can also be found on his Instagram channel. He tries to make the polls speak in his favour.

Or hand it out to Joe Biden. Trump is trying to blame Biden for the current problems in the US, in turn portraying himself as a hero. Classic campaign. More or less.

Donald Trump shows confused election ads on social media

In one of his latest videos, he shows himself with another man, presumably having breakfast in a hotel. Trump signs on the man’s arm. He then films himself going to a tattoo studio and has Trump’s characters immortalized on his skin.

The video is backed by the Village People song “YMCA”. Finally, Donald Trump grins at the camera with a thumbs up and the man with his sleeve up proudly presenting the tattoo.

Trump’s Instagram story also featured an unusual, even wacky, election video this weekend. Trump is not a superhero or rock star in this, but a drummer.

He drums on his rivals like a glowing stick figure with a photoshopped skull. Among them, for example, Hillary Clinton or a fictional emoji with the letters of the American television channel CNN on the forehead. Their heads were pinned to drums with angry expressions on their faces, or squinting.
