The Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF) assures that it has received information that four children who went missing in the plane crash that occurred in the jungles of the south of the country 17 days ago have been found alive and in good health. three adults, whose bodies were found lifeless.
“On the afternoon of May 17, information was received from the territory that ensures contact with four boys and girls who were part of the people being transported on the plane,” the ICBF statement said.
The agency, which works on the prevention and comprehensive protection of children and adolescents, pointed out that, according to the report of the indigenous communities, the minors were “found alive and that they are also in good health.”
The ICBF announcement is known after neither the military forces nor the civil aeronautics (Aerocivil) were able to confirm the news given by the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, that four children were found alive.
In this regard, the Institute pointed out that after learning about the application, it “took over the detection of minors and activated institutional procedures for establishing contact with other state bodies and initiating the procedure for restitution of rights” and gave information to Peter so that he could communicate the news to the country.
“However, the military forces have still not been able to establish official contact due to the severe weather conditions and the difficulty of the terrain, which is why they are tirelessly continuing with searches that have brought more finds in the area and would allow for the confirmation of the information received by the ICBF from various sources,” the agency added. .
Petro announced on Twitter this Wednesday that “after a painstaking search by our military forces”, the four children who disappeared in the plane crash in Guaviare were found alive.
The accident took place in a dense and rainy area, making the search difficult, which is being carried out by more than 100 members of the Armed Forces, together with 3 dogs trained for search and tracking, as well as indigenous people from the region, all supported by helicopters.
The last thing the army and Aerocivil found was a shelter made improvised from sticks and branches, where some scissors and some ‘bows’ with which women usually hold their hair were found, and even pieces of fruit that could supposedly be eaten by children.
Previously, in another place, a dog that was part of the search found a bottle, which is assumed to have been used to feed the baby.
The plane, operated by Avianline Charter, was found upside down, indicating that the crew may have tried to make an emergency landing on gigantic trees with huge roots.
