Austrian actor Helmut Berger (“The Damned”) has died. He died in Salzburg on Thursday at the age of 78, as his agency announced: “It is with great sadness that we, as the agency of acting legend Helmut Berger, have to inform you of his passing.”
Accordingly, the Austrian actor died “peacefully”, but “unexpectedly” in his hometown of Salzburg at four o’clock on Thursday. He would have celebrated his 79th birthday on May 29. “We thank you for all the years of friendship and cooperation!” the statement continued.
Helmut Berger found his way into the film industry in the 1960s. He starred in a long list of movies, including “The Damned,” “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” “The Godfather III,” and “Rosen von Danzig.” He also made the saying on German trash TV: in 2013 he took part in the RTL show “I’m a star – get me out of here!” part.
