These images are hard to bear. A man (40) in need of care lies half-naked and defenseless on a bed. The room was all littered. These are sad scenes encountered by Sussex (UK) Police in July 2020.
The wife of the man (49) would have abused and neglected the Brit together with his caregiver (50) for years. A court has now found the two guilty of modern slavery and assault by a caretaker. That reports “Mirror”.
He couldn’t get help
The victim had to undergo the unbelievable: the 40-year-old, highly intelligent historian lived completely cut off from the outside world. He has suffered from cerebral palsy since birth and is nearly blind. Because he cannot move independently and is dependent on a wheelchair, he has not been able to contact family for help for years.
“He stayed in bed until nine at a time, just with a urine bottle and a pack of crisps,” the prosecutor said in court.

Even the prosecutor was shocked by the conditions the man had to live in: “It was the bare minimum to ensure his survival,” he said in court. The lovers only allowed him to shower once a week and he hadn’t brushed his teeth for a whole year. According to the lawyer, that was actually slavery.
The 49-year-old had a love affair with the nurse. She would have lived with her affair at the expense of the person in need of care. Because she was financially dependent on him.
