“This step is now necessary in the interest of customers,” said DB. The urgent application has been received, the court of the German news agency confirmed. The hearing starts at 12:00 noon.
The Railway and Transport Association (EVG) wants to shut down train traffic again from Sunday evening at 10 p.m. with the third warning strike on the railways this year. Shortly after the announcement, Deutsche Bahn decided to completely halt long-distance traffic during the strike. In regional and freight transport, hardly any trains will run between Sunday evening 10 p.m. and Tuesday evening midnight.
During the two-day warning strike in Germany, SBB trains only run as far as the border. From Sunday evening to Tuesday night, the otherwise cross-border trains returned there, the SBB announced on Friday.
The EVG and 50 railway companies have been fighting about new collective agreements since the end of February and the negotiations are stalled. Deutsche Bahn described the warning strike announced Saturday morning as “disproportionate”, harming customers and uninvolved third parties.
Since the EVG has also called on employees in signal boxes to walk away, it is foreseeable that railway companies that are not currently negotiating with the EVG will also be affected.
