A girl (16) was killed in a knife attack in a Polish children’s and youth home and nine other people were injured. The suspect (19) has been caught, a police spokeswoman told the German press agency on Wednesday. The crime took place around 11 p.m. on Tuesday in the town of Tomislawice in the Lodz region.
The investigators’ initial findings show that the 16-year-old let the attacker into her room through the open window, a police spokesman told Polsat. Then there was a quarrel, a teacher of night readiness hurried to help the girl. “The teacher was also injured. When the 19-year-old ran away from the house, he blindly attacked other people he met along the way.”
The suspect does not live in a youth home
The 16-year-old resident died at the scene of her injuries. Five injured people have been taken to hospital, their lives are not in danger. According to the police, the two teenagers had been a couple for some time. Conflict in the relationship is considered the most likely motive for the crime.
The police arrested the suspect after the crime at his residence nearby. The 19-year-old was sober at the time of the arrest, he was not a resident of the children’s and youth home. (SDA)
