These are the two carriages
Charles and Camilla will travel in two golden carriages on Saturday. 6 horses pull the Diamond Jubilee Coach (above) from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. Carved from 300-year-old wood, the golden crown on top of the carriage houses a camera to film the ride. 8 horses in turn pull the Gold State Coach (below) back to Buckingham Palace. (SME)

‘He’s been practicing for a while’
In a TV interview with Canadian broadcaster CBC, Princess Anne, 72, said a few days before her brother Charles, 74, was crowned: “You know what you’re getting because he’s been practicing for a while and I don’t think he will change.” Anne is against a “skimmed-down” monarchy, like Charles III. she aspires. After the death of the Queen and her husband, after Harry and Meghan ‘moved out’ and Prince Andrew withdrew from the circle of ‘working royals’, the monarchy was thin enough, she thinks. After the coronation, Anne will lead 6,000 members of the armed forces on horseback behind the golden carriage with Charles and Camilla as the King’s personal assistant. Shocking moment at Buckingham Palace: possible assassination attempt thwarted
Just days before the coronation of King Charles III. An arrest and controlled explosion have raised concerns for the safety of royals and spectators at the impending ceremony. A man had thrown objects – believed to be shotgun grenades – over the fence of the palace in London on Tuesday evening, but was quickly arrested. The man is said to be mentally ill.

The British tabloids outnumbered each other on the front pages on Wednesday with reports of the incident: the “Daily Mail” wrote in large letters about a “shotgun shell drama”. The Daily Mirror said the palace was in lockdown following the attack. The Sun, citing eyewitnesses, reported that the man shouted that he wanted to kill the king before throwing objects over the fence into the palace grounds. (sda)
