The automaker attributes the 14% increase to a return to normalcy in the supply chain
Stellantis today reported first-quarter net income of 47.2 billion euros, up 14% from the same period in 2022. This improvement in results was mainly due to “higher shipments and stronger net prices,” according to the cluster.
The company, which has a plant in Vigo, Galicia, also explained that car deliveries between January and March amounted to 1,476,000 units, an increase of 7%, mainly “due to improvements in the fulfillment of semiconductor orders compared to the first quarter of 2022.” .
Likewise, deliveries of electric vehicles rose by 22% in the first quarter, reaching 73,000 units.
Richard PalmerCFO of Stellantis, said that Stellantis is off to a strong start in 2023, maintaining the momentum of an excellent 2022 and “recording strong shipments and net income across all segments.”
“Our global presence and diverse product portfolio means we are well positioned to continue to deliver strong financial results throughout the year. We will be adding nine new battery electric vehicles to our product line-up this year, as we continue to strive to provide clean, safe and affordable mobility for all.”
In Europe, Stellantis achieved turnover of 16,106 million euros, which represents 10.1% more compared to the first quarter of 2022. Likewise, deliveries increased by 5.6%, to 657,000 units, mainly thanks to the initial success of the new Alfa Romeo Tonala and Peugeot 408, along with larger quantities of Fiat 500, Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra and Corsa, as well as increased demand for fully electric models, especially Fiat 500 and Peugeot e-208.
