The Kremlin has denied allegations that Russian President Vladimir Putin is represented by doubles in public appearances. “You’ve probably heard that Putin has a lot of lookalikes working for him while he’s in a bunker. That’s another lie,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told youths at an education event in Moscow on Monday.
Then Peskow praises his boss with flowery words. “You see what kind of president we have. He was and is very active. We who work with him can hardly keep up with him.”
Theories about one or even more Putin doppelgängers continue to surface – most recently, for example, in view of a visit by the Kremlin chief to Russian-occupied Ukrainian war zones. “That was not the real Putin,” Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security Council, said last week.
Recordings caused a stir
In particular, shots from the regional capital of Crimea, Sevastopol, raised questions. Putin walked with a limp and seemed downright weak. In addition, users who viewed the video online noticed that the Kremlin chief kept pulling up his turtleneck. According to estimates, the alleged Russian president wanted to hide facial makeup or even wear a mask.
But not only Putin’s face, but also his gait is the subject of discussion. As the video shows, he moved both arms while walking. But as Kremlin experts know, the president’s right arm remains stiff most of the time.
The Kremlin rejected this statement even then. There is not even evidence that there is actually a Putin lookalike on official dates. (zis/SDA)
