Did Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov (55) send his son to war in Ukraine? At least that is what Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (64) claims in an interview with the Russian news site “Ria Fan”. Prigozhin was going to send Peskov’s son, who had lived abroad for a few years, to the Ukraine as Wagner’s mercenary. “Consider him a simple shooter,” he said, according to the Wagner boss.
According to the Russian-language news portal Meduza, this applies to Nikolai Peskov (33). But it was precisely he who had vehemently refused to enlist in September. A confidant of imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, 46, Dmitri Nisovtsev, had called Peskov’s son during a YouTube livestream on the pretext of sending him to war. He asked if Peskov would be willing to join the war voluntarily.
“When you know I’m Mr. Peskow, you have to understand how wrong it would be if I were there,” Peskow’s son clarifies in an interview. The young man emphasized that it would not be good if the employee sends him to Ukraine. Because who knows what Papa Peskow will do to the cop when he finds out that his own son has been called up.
“He worked like a normal artilleryman”
He would be the perfect candidate. Peskov is a reservist in the Nuclear Missile Force. Russian President Vladimir Putin (70) sent 300,000 reservists into battle in September. But he kept his hands off the children of the Kremlin elite.
Prigozhin tells something else. “He normally worked as a simple artilleryman, knee-deep in mud and shit,” he says of Peskow’s eldest son. “Few know about it,” adds Prigozhin. Meduza asked the Kremlin spokesman for an explanation, but it went unanswered. If Prigozhin’s statements are correct, the question arises why Peskov moved to Ukraine as a Wagner fighter and not as a reservist. (jwg)
