The second appearance against the French three weeks before the first World Cup match (May 13 against Slovenia) gives some more confidence. After the 2-1 victory in Visp, nobody was really satisfied with the Swiss.

The start of the national team in Lausanne is correspondingly more determined and straightforward. Loeffel’s early opening goal gives courage. His crack from the blue line sails into the net despite a clear view past goalkeeper Ylönen. The power plays show that the Swiss are slowly but surely getting better at their game.

The first majority opportunity does not run smoothly, the French even come up with a top-class shorthander opportunity. But goalkeeper Hughes parried against Valier (14th minute). But they use the next two opportunities. It takes them a while to settle in and be solid in their passing game. Egli scores two seconds from the end of the power play to make it 2-0. A second before France is complete again, Bader dusts off the rebound of a shot from Meyer to make it 3-0.

Which people from Zug and Zurich will join the team?

After this reassuring lead, the Nati must work their way through a voltage drop. In their offensive actions, the Swiss are no longer so rigorous in their goals. Only Meyers 4:0 brings back lightness and fun. The latter can be seen in Glauser’s 5-0, which played out wonderfully. And with his 50th international goal, Ambühl put the 6-0 victory on the table.

This second game against France before the big team change provided another chance to leave a lasting impression. The face of the Nati will change a lot, especially on defense. NHL defensemen Janis Moser (Arizona) and Tim Berni (Columbus) are expected to join the team next week, along with semifinalists Tobias Geisser (EVZ) and Dean Kukan (ZSC).

The eliminated Zurich and Zugers got a week break. Defender Christian Marti, who has already moved in, has waived this.

Other possible moves of the semifinal losers? Van EVZ, together with goalkeeper Leonardo Genoni, the strikers Gregory Hofmann, Dario Simion, Sven Senteler, Fabrice Herzog and Lino Martschini. And at the ZSC? Top candidate Sven Andrighetto is out, he underwent surgery on his hand after the season. At best, Willy Riedi would be an option. The team changes will be announced on Sunday.
