A German driver (43) from Freiburg im Breisgau (D) will not soon forget this encounter with the police: because she got lost on Saturday night looking for a hotel, she asked two police officers for help.
However, the issue of the road backfired quite a bit: during the conversation, the law enforcement officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the woman, as reported by several German media, including Der Spiegel.
Woman had 1.7 per thousand in the blood
Because the two officials had become suspicious, the woman had to undergo an alcohol test. She blew into the tube – the result surprised even the two policemen.
Instead of the 0.5 promille allowed in Germany, which you can still use behind the wheel, the test showed a much higher value for women: 1.7 promille!
The drunk was promptly taken out of circulation and her driver’s license was confiscated by the two officers. Now, according to media reports, she may even have to answer to court. A drunk driving case was opened. (a/chs)
