A 17-year-old criminal has been arrested in Sweden after he was released while being transported to a dental appointment. He was arrested during a search of a drug store in Strängnäs, a police spokeswoman told Swedish radio station SR on Saturday. Swedish broadcaster SVT had previously reported the arrest of the teenager convicted of murder. Strängnäs is located almost 60 kilometers west of Stockholm.
Masked and armed men had released the 17-year-old on April 13 when he was to be taken from a closed youth home to a dentist in Södertälje, southwest of Stockholm. He has been free ever since. The teenager was convicted in March of murdering a 55-year-old at a Stockholm gym about a year ago.
Sweden has had a major problem with rampant gang crime for a long time. It manifests itself again and again in shots and deliberately caused explosions. The 55-year-old was not the intended victim of the perpetrator at the gym, but had tried to disarm the teenager. He later succumbed to his gunshot wounds. (SDA)
