The violence escalated on Monday in Hildesheim, Germany.

There are incredible scenes that unfolded in the middle of the street in Hildesheim, Germany, on Monday night. They kick car doors with full force, hit each other or throw themselves to the ground: the images that appeared on Twitter show a massive brawl in which the violence escalated.

Looking at the recordings, it is striking that it mainly concerns young men. As the “Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung” reported, citing the police, the report had previously come in that a BMW allegedly ran into two men, but failed to catch them.

The car just missed the passers-by and instead crashed into several parked cars. As the “Bild” reports, a young man (18) from Hanover would have been behind the wheel.

35 people involved in mass brawl

As a result, about 15 men suddenly burst into the street from a nearby house and ran towards the BMW. They continued to kick the car, punching their fists through the open skylight and trying to drag the occupants out of the car. According to German media, a total of 35 people were involved in the brawl.

Even when the police showed up, the violent pack could not be tamed. Instead, the emergency services were caught between the fronts. A police officer who tried to intervene was punched in the face. The man was taken to hospital with injuries.

Is it clan crime?

The brawl, which police say was an argument between two families, appears to be related to an incident the previous afternoon. For example, there would have been a dispute in a store between a man from Hanover and an employee.

As the “Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung” continues to write, this quarrel degenerated into a brawl. After the man from Hanover had left the store, another man from Hanover would have caused a nuisance in the store a little later. He entered the store and sprayed pepper spray.

Police say there are indications that the two incidents are related. The exact cause of the mass brawl is still unclear. As the ‘Bild’ writes, according to a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office, there is a first suspicion that it could be an act from the clan area.

The 18-year-old BMW driver has been arrested. Since there is no urgent suspicion, he has now been released, the public prosecutor of Hildesheim announced on Tuesday afternoon. (dzc)
