At the airports of Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn, passengers will again have to get used to noticeable handicaps in the coming days. The Verdi union called on workers in aviation security, passenger control, personnel and goods control and in the service areas of the three airports to hold all-day warning strikes for Thursday and Friday.

“In connection with the strike, longer waiting times and even flight cancellations or cancellations can be expected,” the union warned on Tuesday.

The background to the warning strikes are the negotiations between Verdi and the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) about the time allowances for night, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. Added to this is the better collective agreement for overtime pay for security and service personnel at commercial airports.

The union stressed that a written offer from the BDLS was insufficient and could not reach an agreement. Negotiations will continue on April 27 and 28. (oee/sda/awp/dpa)
