Nancy Morel (19) from Buckinghamshire suffers from a mysterious skin disease. It started with innocent pimples and ends with blue-purple spots all over her body. With this unknown phenomenon, she has gained considerable popularity on social media. She now has almost two million followers on TikTok.
In the beginning only with pimples
Nancy Morel’s mysterious skin disease started six years ago – with a pimple. After that it was just a few bruises. But as Nancy hit puberty, the flare-ups got worse. “I was in school and my lip swelled out of nowhere,” she says in her videos on Tiktok.
The doctors ruled out an allergic reaction. But that was all they could do for her. By now, the skin discoloration has spread all over her body – the doctors are at their wits’ end.
Doctors are overwhelmed
“There’s not much I can do. Nothing really works,” says Morel. To this day, she doesn’t know what’s causing her flare-ups. Even after several skin biopsies, the doctors are overwhelmed. I go a year without an outbreak or a year with an outbreak, it’s very different.”
The 19-year-old has tormented herself with hospital visits for the last five years of her life – but that’s over now. She accepts her skin condition and wants to show others that you can be confident in any appearance. (lia)
