The German state of North Rhine-Westphalia has been in shock since Sunday. The trigger: The body of a 12-year-old girl was found in a forest in the village of Freudenberg. Since then the question has been: what happened?
Authorities believe the girl died a violent death. “The investigations carried out so far confirm the suspicion that the girl has become the victim of a murder,” the prosecutor’s office said yesterday.
Now it is known: two girls are under suspicion. According to dpa information, they are twelve and thirteen years old. “We are not in the dark,” said a police officer according to “Bild”. Several peers were questioned afterwards. And according to the tabloid, there have since been indications that two of them were involved in the girl’s death.
However, the case has not yet been resolved. Several cases give the detectives a headache. For example, why the 12-year-old’s body was found in the woods. She had actually gone in the opposite direction, on her way home from a friend’s house.
A disused railway tunnel also plays a role in the investigation.
