Tiktok has a new star: the videos of its “Royal Holiness Thomas G. Hornauer” (62) are currently going viral on the platform. “Five hearts,” Hornauer says at the start, followed by short words of wisdom or references to his live streams, in which he “holds an audience” or invites viewers to the “TAM Dance.”
Especially these dance videos are very popular. TAM stands for “Transcendental Active Meditation”. Some of his nearly 300,000 subscribers switch live to “King Thomas” via video and dance to the specially designed beat, accompanied by Hornauer’s moderation. It is about “inner meditation”, chakras or forces that “throw the poison out of the cells”. For this he harvests millions of likes.
What appears to be superficial entertainment at first glance is less innocent on closer inspection. Because: the man from Plüderhausen, Germany, who likes to dress in gold robes or batik shirts, is no stranger. And it’s probably mainly about one thing: money.
From sex hotlines to tiktok guru
Thomas G. Hornauer describes himself as “the illegitimate great-great-grandson of King Ludwig II”. In 2003, he bought a television station on which he began broadcasting spiritual advice under the name “Telemedial”. The entrepreneur later moved his broadcasts to a website, where they continued to flicker across the screens as live streams until 2017. That is in the biography on his website.
But what it doesn’t say is that Hornauer had previously earned the money to buy the television station by operating paid sex hotlines. This made him a multimillionaire.
Hornauer’s esoteric offers have always had a price: because the programs had to “energize” the viewers, he expected an “energy balance” in return. Monetary in nature, of course. They could pay in his own currency, the “Deutsch-Markt”. This currency also pops up again today in his Tiktok videos, be it as a symbol or as a mantra chanted during the TAM dances, for which you can of course donate “coins and likes”.
Not only are there countless questionable episodes from his past: In a recent stream, for example, he asked a young woman to show herself from behind dancing TAM. When she didn’t, she was thrown out of the stream.
