According to the Antisemitism Report 2022 published on Tuesday, 853 (+6 percent) incidents were registered online last year. In the real world, the number of reported events rose from 53 to 57. The survey for German, Italian and Romansh speaking Switzerland was conducted by the Swiss Federation of Israelite Communities SIG and the GRA Foundation against Racism and Antisemitism.
The authors called for state involvement in monitoring anti-Semitism and racism. Legal means to curb hate speech should be explored. Politicians must act on social media platforms – especially Telegram – to prevent the spread of hatred against minorities. In addition, parliament should ban Nazi symbols.
