How Joe Biden challenges Vladimir Putin The rains hit Brazil’s coast so hard – at least 36 dead

The US President’s visit to Kiev was historic – and a masterpiece of propaganda.

Every night on Fox News, Joe Biden is maligned as a dodger. He is senile, almost demented, triple insecure, keeps getting lost, keeps making mistakes and has to go to bed by 9 p.m. at the latest, Sean Hannity & Co scorns.

That’s how things can go wrong. Yesterday the world met Joe Biden, the fearless. He was the first American president to venture into enemy territory without protecting his own soldiers. He twice made a ten-hour journey in a bumpy train to arrive in Kiev, on the very anniversary of the Ukrainians’ ouster of their hated head of state, Viktor Yanukovych, and there to show his support for legitimate president Volodymyr Zelenskyy – in front of the cameras and accompanied by wailing sirens.

Okay, the sirens may have been clever staging, but the occasion was Joe Biden at his best. His surprise coup in Ukraine was not only historic, it was also a lesson in propaganda. And he simultaneously combined two of Biden’s central concerns.

Biden has visited Ukraine several times as vice president, and it has become a matter of the heart for him. Before leaving, he confessed: “I must admit that Kiev has become dear to me.”

Equally important to the US president is the fight for democracy. Putin, Xi Jinping, Viktor Orban & Co. have become a major threat to the survival of the liberal world order, nationalism, populism and even neo-fascism are on the rise. Biden has repeatedly emphasized that Putin’s horrific attack is about more than just the fate of Ukraine.

The US president emphasized this again in his speech in Kiev. “It was crucial for me to show that there can be no doubt, absolutely no doubt about US support for Ukraine. Because it’s not just about the freedom of Ukraine. It’s about freedom for democracy in general.”

It is no coincidence that Biden, of all people, managed this historic propaganda coup. Life has dealt this man heavy blows and taught him to accept them stoically. His first wife and daughter died in a car accident and one of his two sons died of a brain tumor. “That taught me a great respect for fate,” said Biden.

Don’t be afraid of death

In addition, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, citing a book Biden wrote in 2007, said, “Maybe I should have been very scared at the time. I was very calm, yes I felt like I was gently riding a wave in the sea floated. That surprised me, but I lost all fear of death.”

While Biden is not a Buddhist, he is a devout Catholic who has accepted it as his mission to destroy Putin & Co. and will do everything to fulfill this mission.

Sure, 80-year-old Joe Biden can’t hide his age. Nevertheless, he positively distinguishes himself from his ten years younger counterpart. While the US president marches resolutely through Kiev with Zelenskyy on sirens, Putin sits pale behind his grotesquely large table, wiggling his feet.

The Russian president also spoke today. In his version of a ‘state of the union’ speech, he once again justified his unjust war, warned against the West polluted by homosexuality and satanism and denounced NATO.

On the battlefield, things don’t go according to plan for him at all. Although the Russian army and his mercenary group Wagner have suffered about 200,000 casualties according to British information, they cannot point to any significant successes. Putin is therefore forced to become increasingly dependent on the Chinese.

Wang Yi, the top Chinese foreign politician, has therefore arrived in Moscow. It is not known what he is negotiating with his Russian colleagues. At the Munich security conference over the weekend, Wang announced that China would soon present a peace plan for Ukraine. At the same time, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed fears that Beijing might soon want to supply weapons to Russia. This warning was accompanied by the threat that the US would respond very forcefully and decisively.

Xi Jinping would do well to heed this warning. His so-called best colleague Vladimir Putin is currently learning that the American president is not to be trifled with. Or as Eugene Robinson puts it: “No one can stop Putin from starting a war. But Biden can — and will — avoid winning this war.”
