“Miami Vice” and “Bourne”: cult cameraman Oliver Wood dies of cancer Damaged Russian space shuttle Progress remains in space for now

Oliver Wood, the cinematographer of action films such as Die Hard 2, the Bourne Trilogy and more than 50 episodes of the TV series Miami Vice, has passed away.

He died of cancer on February 13, his team of spokespersons announced on Saturday. Wood lived to be 80 years old. Hollywood producer Frank Marshall (“The Bourne Supremacy”, “Jurassic World”) paid tribute on Twitter, describing the cinematographer as “one of the greats”. With his cinematography on the “Bourne” trilogy, he set new standards for Hollywood action films in the early 2000s.

Born in Britain, he made his breakthrough as a cinematographer in Hollywood in the late 1980s with the hit series “Miami Vice”. Action movies like “Die Hard 2”, “Terminal Velocity” and “Face/Off” followed.

From 2002 to 2007, he directed three “Bourne” episodes starring Matt Damon as the hunted secret agent. His most recent work includes the film «Morbius» (2022) by director Daniel Espinosa. Wood and Espinosa previously directed the films “Safe House” (2012) and “Child 44” (2015). (sda/dpa)
