The Danish Queen Margrethe II has never tried to quit smoking in her life. The queen, who is known for her cigarette consumption, revealed this in an interview published on Friday by the Danish weekly magazine Weekendavisen.
Have you ever considered switching to nicotine gum? “No. And now I’m so old that it doesn’t matter,” said the 82-year-old. Her mother also smoked until the very end, just like her father.
The interviewing journalist from “Weekendavisen” reports that Margrethe’s cigarettes are in a silver box. They come from a Greek brand, are very strong and have no filter – the interview has therefore been given the title “Dronningen uden filter” (Queen without filter).
In the extensive and candid interview, Margrethe talks about a whole range of topics, such as the Russian offensive war against Ukraine, her friendly relationship with the late British Queen Elizabeth II and the Netflix series “The Crown”. The Queen, who is interested in arts and culture, said she avoided the series. “I know the family so well that it would really annoy me if I saw them say things they would never say or speak in a way I don’t think they would,” she said.
