Expert team investigates attack on military facility in Iran At least three dead after record rain in Auckland, New Zealand

The Iranian government will send a team of experts to the city of Isfahan to investigate the attacks on a military facility. The security committee of the Iranian parliament announced this on the state broadcaster IRIB on Sunday. In addition to military experts, members of the Security Committee must also participate in the investigations and then announce the decisions of the political leadership.

A defense ministry munitions factory near the metropolis of Isfahan in central Iran was attacked by several small planes on Sunday night, according to a report by the state news agency IRNA. Iran’s defense ministry said it was a military strike. Three of the planes were destroyed by Iranian air defenses. No one was injured in the attack.

Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian described the attacks as both cowardly and ridiculous. Such attacks have not undermined the country’s military or nuclear performance, Iran’s top diplomat said, according to the Tasnim news agency. Amirabdollahian did not say who he believed was responsible for the attacks. In political circles, however, there is talk of the two Iranian archenemies Israel and the US. (sda/dpa)
