Therefore, today we will remind you of the basic laws of layering: what and with what you can wear and what things are better not to combine in order to avoid a “short” effect.
- Let’s start by saying that you should not pick up sports down jackets for casual wear. Even if it is long, it does not guarantee an elegant look.
- There are no problems with how to combine long down jackets and trousers. The question is what skirts to choose for extended styles of outerwear. The safest way is to wear dresses and skirts that are completely covered by a down jacket, so you don’t even have to think about the length rule.
- If the bottom is still longer than the down jacket, make sure that the hem of the dress or skirt does not peek out more than 10 centimeters. A large strip of fabric can spoil the harmony in your image, so a gap of 5-10 centimeters is the best choice.
- And what to do with the shoes? We focus on the length of the down jacket: we definitely wear maxi models with high boots / ugg boots / boots. If a massive winter jacket takes up most of the outfit, and then suddenly there is a gap in the form of “bare” ankles, the balance in the look is disturbed.
- There is also a small but important complaint about trousers: too wide and voluminous models, complemented by a long down jacket, can turn the figure into a quilted ball. Therefore, jeans are suitable for extended outerwear – say boots, long chinos, classic models. But let’s leave the massive pants in a big stitch aside for combinations with short jackets: yes, it’s fashionable, but in the right combination and without long down jackets!
