Iran’s defense ministry said it was a military strike. Three of the aircraft were destroyed by Iran’s defense system. No one was injured in the attack. The damage was minor, the Isna news agency reported, citing the ministry.
So far, there is no information from Tehran about those responsible for the attack. Archenemy Israel is usually blamed. Such attacks are also linked to the nuclear deal that aims to limit Iran’s nuclear activities. Negotiations on the agreement have been stalled for months. Tehran accuses Israel of trying to sabotage them.
At the same time, a major fire broke out at an oil processing plant in the northwest of the country. During the night, dozens of firefighters battled the fire not far from the provincial capital of Tabris, which, according to media reports, broke out for reasons that have not yet been clarified. At least one worker was injured. The fire was so destructive that a fire truck also fell victim to the flames. Videos from the Fars agency showed a sea of flames. (sda/dpa)
