Lola Chantrelle Mitchell is known by her stage name Gangster Boo. She made a name for herself as a rapper and had a lasting impact on the industry. Now, however, the death of the American musician has been unexpectedly announced. She died on New Year’s Day at the age of 43.
According to Fox 13 Memphis, the cause of death is not yet known. The only information that has been made public is that mobster Boo was found dead on Sunday morning. However, insiders stated on the American portal “TMZ” that drugs could have led to her death. However, this theory is not confirmed.
Mitchell is considered a pioneer of female rap music. She started rapping at the age of 14 and was heard on Three 6 Mafia’s debut album Mystic Stylez in the early 1990s. Gangsta Boo was the group’s second female member. In 1998, at the age of 19, she released her first solo album, Inquiring Minds, but continued to collaborate with Three 6 Mafia until 2001.

In total, Gangsta Boo was involved in six Three 6 Mafia albums. The group later won an Oscar for Best Original Song, It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp, from the 2005 film Hustle & Flow.
The year she left Three 6 Mafia, Mitchell released her second album, Both Worlds *69, followed by her final studio album, Inquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera. Even without a major studio behind him, Mitchell regularly released mixtapes and appeared on tracks by other artists, including Run the Jewels, Junglepussy and Blood Orange.
