For months, a Michigan girl received thousands of hate messages. The content, according to prosecutor David Barberi, was “vile, demoralizing and derogatory”. The girl’s girlfriend was also affected by the bad news, according to the American TV channel Abc13.
After the bullying emails got worse and worse, the girl’s mother, Kendra L.*, (42) even called the police. In the end, it was the FBI’s cyber experts who revealed the bully’s identity and shocked the small town of Beal City. It was the mother herself.
Only the FBI found her
According to prosecutor David Barberi’s indictment, the high school girl first received messages in the spring of 2021: “They came from apparently several anonymous senders. Up to twelve a day.” When the girl’s friend received similar hate mail on a daily basis, both mothers called on the school district to take action.
But even with the help of the local police, the search for the unknown hater came to nothing. Until the FBI got involved. This was able to locate the IP address – it came from Kendra L’s laptop. When police confronted the 42-year-old, prosecutors said she confessed to everything.
“Bizarre Satisfaction”
According to the authorities, Kendra L. used software that concealed the origin of the messages. The mother tried to write the messages in the style of teenagers. Prosecutor Barberi told WKRC TV channel: “The mother seemed to get bizarre satisfaction from the fact that her own daughter and her friend felt bad about her swear words.”
L. must answer in court for cyberbullying minors. So far the Raven Mother has been silent about her motive.
