The plan of the Russian troops after the Kherson withdrawal

Tens of thousands of Russian soldiers have left Kherson in recent days. But where are they now?

Following Ukraine’s recapture of the city of Kherson, the US Department of Defense expects Russian troops to entrench themselves on the opposite eastern bank of the Dnipro River.

“Want to keep territory under their control”

Tens of thousands of Russian soldiers are on the east side of the river, a senior Pentagon official emphasized Monday. “Our current estimate is that they intend to keep this area under their control.”

Monday night it was said they had already done that. After advancing and capturing the entire right bank of the Dnipro, the Ukrainian troops would have crossed the river and advanced to the left bank.

This is reported by several journalists and Osint specialists who have evaluated satellite images in recent hours. However, the Pentagon currently has no evidence that Ukrainian units have crossed the river.

Ukraine to the West, Russians to the East

More than eight and a half months after the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian army had great success last week: After a successful counter-offensive, the Russians in the southern region of Kherson withdrew from the regional capital of the same name and other places on the western bank of the Dnipro.

On the eastern bank, the Russians control most of the Kherson region.

“The Beginning of the End of the War”

Ukraine had announced that it wanted to liberate all parts of the country from Russian occupation with the support of arms and ammunition stocks from the West. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (44) says Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson is “the beginning of the end of the war”. (euc/SDA)
