In the Principality of Liechtenstein, a woman made a serious April Fool’s joke with her daughter, prompting operations by the state police and emergency services. She had sent her daughter a fake photo of her left hand with a large cut and blood on it.
Unable to reach her mother, the daughter assumed it was an emergency and alerted state police, they announced Tuesday. The emergency center then called in two police patrols and the emergency services.
Only after the mother’s whereabouts had been determined did it become apparent that she had committed an April Fools’ joke. The police were not very enthusiastic about it. “As a result of this April Fool’s Day prank, state police patrols and emergency services were in action for an extended period of time without any real emergency occurring,” police wrote in the statement.
Fortunately, there were no bottlenecks for the rescue organizations during this period. It was said that it would be examined whether the costs of the operation would be passed on. (sda)
